Laura Cohen, MA is a Psychology Intern at Primary Care Psychology Associates. She is currently completing her final year of her doctoral program in Clinical Psychology Program at William James College. She holds a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. Additionally, she holds a Master’s degree in Professional Psychology from William James College.
Laura has worked with adolescents, young adults, and adults in various settings, including private practices and community based settings. She integrates a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities depending on the patient’s needs, with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical- behavioral therapy (DBT), and humanistic therapy. She has received training in individual and group therapy as well as psychological and neuropsychological assessment.
Laura strives to incorporate a holistic approach to therapy, while bringing creativity, humor, and mindfulness to her sessions. She believes that therapy should be a balance between introspection and skill-building to enhance understanding, healing, and overall well-being. She strives to employ a warm and empathetic patient-centered approach to psychotherapy at all times. She carefully tailors treatment to the patient’s needs, goals, values, and specific strengths. Laura enjoys engaging in a collaborative and culturally-informed dialogue with her patients to ensure that they feel seen and heard during every aspect of the therapeutic journey.
