Couples Therapy

Couples therapy helps two individuals learn to work together as a unit and strengthen specific areas within the relationship, while gaining improved understanding of interpersonal dynamics and individual problems that make it difficult for the couple to function effectively. Couples therapy emphasizes understanding shared expectations, needs and aspirations, learning healthy forms of communicating, learning conflict resolution, and navigating emotional triggers.
It tends to assess therapeutic progress in terms of changes in the system of interactions between the two partners, and also the changes of the interactions of the couple with the surrounding environment.

Couples therapy is attended by both partners together with a therapist. The problems addressed can vary in terms of their causes, influences, triggers, and potential resolutions, and include, but are not limited to:

Communication problems
Intimacy issues
Infidelity
Distrust
Avoidance of conflict and neglect of the relationship
Ageing/Stage of life concerns
Adjustment to separation/divorce

Typically, couples therapy sessions will last for 55-60 minutes. We accept most insurance plans, and self pay arrangements can be worked out as well. Coverage will be checked and relayed to the patients before services begin. As a general policy, cancellation REQUIRES a 24 hour notice, otherwise the patient or responsible party will be responsible for a $100 late cancellation fee.

Disclaimer: Only one person's insurance plan is billed for couples therapy appointments. Couples therapy sessions allowed are determined by individual insurance plans. Should services be denied by your plan, the insurance allowance will be applied to the responsible party.
