Berenice Contreras, Psy.D. (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Primary Care Psychology Associates, specializing in working with children, adolescents and families.
She completed her doctoral training in School Psychology at Illinois State University, and her doctoral internship at New Connections Academy, a private Therapeutic Day School.
Dr. Contreras has extensive experience working with school-aged children and adolescents presenting with a wide range of concerns at a variety of settings. She is competent in providing direct outpatient psychotherapy services, as well as school-based interventions, and excels in facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, where individuals, their families, teachers, medical providers and other caregivers are all encouraged to collaborate with one another and contribute to the healing process.
Dr. Contreras aims to provide individualized intervention support to every patient by utilizing evidence-based care including interventions from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength-based therapy, Behavioral, and Systems theories. Dr. Contreras recognizes the importance of providing therapeutic interventions that align with a culturally responsive lens.
Dr. Contreras is fluent in Spanish.
