Berenice Contreras, Psy.D. (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Primary Care Psychology Associates, specializing in working with children, adolescents and families.

She completed her doctoral training in School Psychology at Illinois State University, and her doctoral internship at New Connections Academy, a private Therapeutic Day School.

Berenice has experience working with children and adolescents at a variety of setting and presenting with a wide range of concerns. She has supported children and adolescents at an outpatient setting and from within the school system by providing direct intervention services, parent and teacher consultation. Her clinical interests include working with individuals and families with presenting problems such as attention and learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder, learning problems/IEP management, toilet training concerns, anxiety related difficulties, social problems, navigating grief and loss, depression, navigating exposure to trauma, and emotion regulation difficulties.

Dr. Contreras aims to provide individualized intervention support, utilizing approaches such as DBT, CBT, strength-based therapy, behavioral, and systems theories to support presenting concerns. Dr. Contreras recognizes the importance of providing therapeutic interventions that align with a culturally responsive lens. She values collaborating with caregivers to support a safe space to grow and learn for her patients.
