Linzy Pinkerton, M.S. (she/her) is a doctoral Psychology Intern in Pediatric Psychology at Primary Care Psychology Associates specializing in working with children, adolescents and their families. She is in her final year of doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Psychology and Social Policy from Northwestern University.
Linzy has experience working to support youth and their families at several academic medical centers throughout the Chicagoland area. She has provided individual, family and group therapy, as well as neuropsychological assessments. Linzy is committed to bringing a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to all her clinical work.
Linzy’s areas of clinical focus include mood and anxiety disorders, parent-management training, adjustment to chronic illness, and externalizing behaviors. Linzy is particularly passionate about partnering with parents to help them support their children’s behaviors and therapy goals. She believes that individuals are best understood through a systems-lens of understanding their family and broader environment.
Linzy’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. Her therapeutic approach draws upon cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and parent management training (PMT). She is dedicated to helping individuals achieve their fullest potential by understanding their lived experience, building their strengths, recognizing existing emotional and behavioral patterns in their life, and working towards their identified goals.
