Emma Zaknoun, M.A. (she/her) is a Psychology Intern specializing in Adult Psychology at Primary Care Psychology Associates. Emma is currently completing the final year of her doctoral program in Clinical Psychology at Adler University. Emma holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Adler University.
Emma previously trained at a community health setting, schools, college counseling center and private practice. She has experience providing individual and group psychotherapy with patients of all ages. She has specialized training psychological assessments to individuals across the lifespan, and offered diagnostic and therapeutic feedback.
Emma’s areas of clinical interest include complex trauma, and exploring the way environmental and systemic factors impact mental health. She utilizes evidenced-based approaches to treating trauma including Stage-oriented Integrated Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Humanistic theory in her work with patients. Emma aims to create a warm and supportive environment where individuals feel safe to explore sensitive and vulnerable themes in their lives, while working collaboratively with clients to shed light on areas of growth so that they feel more empowered and confident within their social, occupational, and personal spheres.
