Dr. Denise Gardner (she/her) is the Associate Director of Pediatric Behavioral Health and a licensed Pediatric Psychologist at Primary Care Psychology Associates.
Dr. Gardner provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Gardner also has extensive experience working with parents to address developmental, emotional, and behavioral concerns through parent coaching and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT). Dr. Gardner also works with families to address family communication and family dynamics. Dr. Gardner has expertise in a variety of areas, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, disruptive behaviors, emotion regulation, sleep, picky eating, and social skills. Dr. Gardner has specialized training in treating gastrointestinal (GI) concerns and health conditions, including toilet training, encopresis, enuresis, chronic abdominal pain, and adjustment to chronic conditions (e.g., Crohn’s disease).
Dr. Gardner uses an evidence-based approach to working with children and families, including elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Dr. Gardner also incorporates play and humor into therapy. She works in collaboration with your child's pediatrician and other caregivers (e.g., school staff). In addition to therapy services, Dr. Gardner also conducts psychological assessments to evaluate a variety of issues, including ADHD, executive functioning, learning concerns, and emotional/behavioral concerns.
