Dr. Rebecca Tews (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist at Primary Care Psychology Associates. She provides psychotherapy and psychological assessment services to parents, children, adolescents and young adults.
Dr. Tews earned her Ph.D. in counseling psychology at Marquette University and her M.A. in clinical psychology at Middle Tennessee State. Prior to that she spent over a decade working in child development and education. Her research has focused on anxiety and arousal issues in video gaming, trauma, brain injury, and the impact of military service on children and families. Dr. Tews completed her predoctoral internship at Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin working with multigenerational child & family mental health needs related to adoption, abuse, and trauma. She completed her post-doctoral training with M. Mark McKee in Naperville, Il working with neurodevelopmental assessment and diagnoses, child and adolescent therapy, and parent support. She has provided psychology services in a wide variety of community settings including integrated private practice in family medicine, and school consultation. Dr. Tews has developed an expertise in working with children with treatment-resistant ADHD and executive dysregulation, early childhood behavioral issues, identifying and supporting twice-exceptional children, young adult issues in self-identity and transition to independence, and parent and family support. Dr. Tews uses an evidenced-based approach to working with children and families that includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness. She is a certified Empowered Relief TM pain management provider (results-oriented pain management intervention). She brings a very strong background in developmental neurobiology and brain science to her understanding of individual challenges. Above all, Dr. Tews focuses on finding an integrated, wholistic, and collaborative approach to helping those she serves to improve their quality of life and become empowered to manage the challenges they face.
