Dr. Laura Higdon is a licensed Clinical Psychologist at Primary Care Psychology Associates specializing in working with adults.
She earned her doctoral degree at The Chicago Medical School/ University of Health Sciences in North Chicago, IL. Her research involved emotional and interpersonal factors on the treatment of chronic pain. She completed her Clinical Internship at Camp Hill Medical Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she concentrated in anxiety disorders and Behavioral Medicine. She completed post-doctoral training working in an inpatient child psychiatric setting, as well as outpatient settings providing services to children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Higdon has worked with abused children, in outpatient settings, as well as hospital settings, on rehabilitation unit providing psychotherapy and assessment to patients with brain injury, medical illness such as cancer and heart disease, and chronic pain.
Dr. Higdon takes an individually centered approach to patients. She uses evidence based and cognitive -behavioral and integrative approaches to her patient. Dr. Higdon believes strongly in wellness oriented therapies, focusing on the relation of physical and emotional wellness. She believes in a collaborative approach focused on patient needs.
