Sarah Van Nostrand, MA, MEd is a Psychology Intern at Primary Care Psychology Associates. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and International Studies from Kenyon College, a Master’s in Counseling from DePaul University. She is currently completing the final year of her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. Sarah has worked with patients of all ages in a variety of settings, including community mental health, hospitals, and private practice. She has training and experience both in individual and couples psychotherapy and in assessment.
Sarah is guided by a trauma-informed approach that primarily integrates psychodynamic and attachment theories with behavioral techniques to help alleviate symptoms. As an integrative clinician, Sarah aims to view each patient through multiple lenses, and makes tailored interventions to suit each patient’s needs. Her therapeutic style relies on warmth, patience, and a sense of humor to help each patient feel comfortable and accomplish their goals in therapy.
Areas of Expertise: Anxiety, depression, relationship distress, couples work, parenting/ postpartum issues, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder and identity development.
